Edible Patches

THE EDIBLE PATCHES, sponsored by Cono Sur Vineyards and Winery
The Edible Patches were an exciting new feature for the 2011 Show. Edible Patches is unique to BBC Gardeners’ World Live providing an opportunity for horticultural students/allotment growers and budding gardeners to experience the design, planning and build of a horticultural exhibit in a show environment, without the large financial and resource commitment of a show garden. Edible Patches consisted of a raised bed which will be pre-prepared ready for planting when exhibitors arrive on site.
Edible Patches were intended to inspire and educate visitors on how they can creatively incorporate an attractive and functioning plot into their own garden. Patches should be planted with edible plant material such as vegetables, fruits and herbs. The use of props and themes is also encouraged to create a visually exciting way of growing and displaying these items.
With more and more people wanting to grow their own fresh, healthy and guilt-free ingredients, this is the perfect place to find inspiration on getting started.
The results of the visitor vote for the newly launched Edible Patches Competition sponsored by Cono Sur are now in and we would like to congratulate Court Lane Allotments on their patch titled ‘A Tasty Little Space’
