Grow Your Own Garden

This central feature of the 2011 Show was an interactive plot where you could learn from the experts and pick up handy hints and tips on how to produce delicious home-grown fruit and veg.

Designed by Chelsea ‘Best in Show’ and multi RHS gold medal winner - Adam Frost, built by leading construction company - New Ground Landscapes and the planting supervised by gardening legend, past chairman of ‘Britain in Bloom’ and top RHS judge Jim Buttress, the ‘Grow your own’ garden demonstrated all you needed to create the perfect plot.

The top quality vegetables are always a highlight. Grown under the watchful eye of Nick Hamilton at Barnsdale, they flourished with the combination of his experience and skills learned from his father Geoff. The standard was so high, visitors often said ‘Geoff Hamilton would have been proud to have grown these’ - and it’s true!

We had your favourite gardening celebrities visit the garden daily, offering invaluable top tips and advice using examples from the plants growing around them. Passionate organic gardener, Monty Don offered practical advice on making your own compost, Carol Klein gave us her top tips on growing vegetables and fruit and Toby Buckland, one of Britain’s foremost kitchen gardeners’, gave tips for success when growing herbs and edible flowers.
