Biography
James Alexander -Sinclair is an established garden and landscape designer, writer, television presenter and lecturer. He started his gardening career over 25 years ago when he became a landscaping contractor in a firm in London. After a few years of laying lawns, building walls, erecting fences, in 1992 he moved to Northamptonshire where he began to concentrate on the design part of the business. Since then he has designed many spectacular gardens across the country.
In 1999 he made his first television appearance on Collectors Lot and since then he has appeared as a guest in The Curious Gardeners and on Small Town Gardens. In 2003 James returned to Small Town Gardens as main presenter, he was also a judge for the BBC Gardener of the Year 2003 and the judge and presenter for The Great Gardening Challenge in 2005. He has also been a presenter in the Chelsea Flower Show, Malvern Gardening Show, Hampton Court Flower Show and BBC Gardeners' World Live,
As a writer, his easy, slightly irreverent style makes him an excellent communicator and he has the ability to bring the garden to life on the page. He has written for the Daily Express and Sunday Express, for Homes & Gardens, Period Living, BBC Homes & Antiques, House & Garden, Country Living Magazine and his own house and garden were recently featured in Grand Designs magazine.
James also gives talks an lectures to local garden clubs. His most notably he has lectured for the Royal Horticultural Society in Doncaster and Ross-on-Wye, at the Garden Shows at both Stansted and Ragley Halls, at Urban Gardens, The Hardy Plant Society, Gardeners' World Live, Coton Manor Garden School, The Hatfield Rose Festival, The English Garden School, The Oxford Literary Festival, Barnsley House, Capel Manor College and various local Horticultural Societies and Garden Clubs.
