A Garden Lover's Diary June
The most eagerly anticipated four days in the Gardeners’ World calendar are over – but there’s a legacy of inspiration that lives on! From the stunning yet achievable ideas laid out in the Tesco ‘Every Little Helps’ Garden, to the creative, inventive and thrifty gardening ideas presented by over 50 schools, there are no end to the ideas that you can continue to take home. Stay tuned in to us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter as we keep the ideas flowing over the coming months. Save the date; as next year's BBC Gardeners’ World Live takes place 14 – 17 June 2018.
BEST IN SHOW
Bringing the romance of fairy tales into the garden, Wyevale Garden Centres' stunning ‘Romance in the Ruins’ was a deserving winner of Best in Show. With all plants available in Wyevale Garden Centres, why not have a go at recreating some of this stunning planting in your own garden with Rose Desdemona, Geranium Rozanne, Heuchera ‘Purple Palace’ and many more.
Following the success of Best Beautiful Border in 2016, Lanwarne Landscapes now take home the acclaimed ‘Best Construction Landscaper’ award for their incredible APL Avenue Show Garden in 2017. The garden was packed with canny ideas for welcoming wildlife. In addition, Pro-Gardens were the winners of the public vote with their stunning hide-way garden.
AS SEEN ON TV
For the anniversary celebrations of BBC Two’s Gardeners’ World, we enjoyed a huge line up of the TV presenters at the Show. The 1-hour special was a superb way to enjoy the Show, from home. For those who were with us, iPlayer means you can relive all the highlights. Take a trip down memory lane as we celebrate Gardeners’ World’s “big anniversary bash”. Watch now >
GETTING KIDS GROWING
What a joy it was to welcome so many school groups to the Show this year. From the schools' Meal in a Barrow competition to Award-winning Small Gardens designed by schools and academies, the kids blew us away with their creativity. The school groups who attended the Skinny Jean Gardener Theatre session have gone home with even more brilliant ideas to get growing.
We’ve had a truly fantastic Show and hope you did too. If you were at the Show, did you snap a selfie, get shots of your shopping haul, or get a photo with your favourite presenter? Share your photos with us on social media so we can relive the memories with you - tag @BBCGWLive on Twitter and Instagram or @BBCGardenersWorldLive on Facebook and get sharing…
