Celebrate British Flowers Week with Flowers from the Farm
Chasing a fourth consecutive Gold Award at this year’s show, these creative British flower farmers have taken design inspiration from A Midsummer Night’s Dream for the theme of their exhibit and cafe decorations in the Floral Marquee.
Visitors can expect to see thousands of blousy, seasonal British blooms adorning a romantic moon gate, a wedding table and a floral swing - and even crowning the bust of a donkey!
You’ll often find that you can smell the delicious perfumes of a floral installation by Flowers from the Farm long before you see the flowers. You are greeted by the heady scent of locally-grown sweet williams, peonies, sweet peas and roses wafting up from a backdrop of beautiful larkspur, ammi, alcemilla mollis, snapdragons and cornflowers.
Flowers from the Farm is the nationwide movement of over 620 artisan growers behind the current renaissance in British cut flowers. Aside from stems sent in from Cornwall nursery, Flowers by Clowance, all the beautiful blooms in the display have been grown by 10 flower farmers growing within 40 miles of Birmingham:
Anna Brian Flowers
Camomile & Cornflowers
Hope and Glory
The Enchanting Owl
Vale Garden Flowers
Wild at Heart
Flowers from the Farm growers across the country are passionate about inspiring people to opt for seasonal, scented and locally-grown blooms, and encouraging more people to start growing British cut flowers for market.
On 16-18 August when the growing season is in full swing, over 100 growers will be opening their gates for The Flower Farmers’ Big Weekend with talks, tours, PYO, lunches and teas amongst the flower fields.
