Meet the floral alchemists
What flower show would be complete without fabulous floristry? Here at BBC Gardeners’ World Live we're proud to be working with the team at the British Floristry Association to give visitors a generous dose of floral magic from top professional florists!
These floral alchemists are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the British Florist Association with an exciting programme of floristry demonstrations, floral design competitions and a stunning pop-up flower shop.
Just like any good high-street retail florist shop, the BFA Flower Shop will be full of fresh cut flowers, bouquets and arrangements, expertly arranged by skilled BFA florists. You can browse, buy or even order at the show with the BFA’s Design-to-Order service. And who knows...you may even win a sensational Summer Bouquet of 100 stems as part of the BFA's celebrations of their 100 year anniversary (visit the BFA Flower Stage to enter the prize draw).
If you fancy seeing a professional florist at work, then stop by the BFA Flower Stage , where top London florist, Dennis van Wonderen will be in action across the four days with his stylish, informative and always entertaining floral demonstrations. Immersed in the world of cut flowers from a young age, there is nothing this Dutchman does not know about floristry! As he creates lavish hand-tied bouquets, tablecentres and vase arrangements, Dennis will be sharing plenty of hints and tips on how to make the best of your cut flowers in your home.
On Thursday 15 June and Friday 16 June, prepare to be wowed by a true battle of floristry champions as we host, with the British Florist Association, the heats of the prestigious UK Florist of the Year competition. Twelve talented, professional florists have secured their places by winning either an RHS Chelsea medal or heat, or by competing through the WorldSkills UK programme. This is a challenge for the über-creative - and certainly not for the faint-hearted!
Over the course of each day, the florists will be creating no fewer than three floral designs live at the show in full view of passers-by. Their fourth piece – a ‘flamboyant floral headdress to be worn by a dancer at the opening ceremony of the 50th celebrations of BBC Two's Gardeners’ World – will also be on display.
Thursday 15 June competitors:
- Amanda Coghill
- Louisa Cooper
- Dean Sharpe
- Caroline Crabb

- Kate Bainbridge
- Emma Keeler
Friday 16 June competitors:
