Specialist Societies

Specialist Societies is a feature area at BBC Gardeners’ World Live with a focus on learning, careers and specialist knowledge in horticulture, where visitors are encouraged to join in, visit, learn more, take up a new hobby or even pursue a new career. Show Gardens

Show Gardens are the editorial jewel in the crown and secure significant exposure within the event’s marketing campaign. Show Gardens can generate business or even a subliminal promotion, particularly important for a charity. We welcome gardens both small and large that encapsulate eye-catching designs with well-built construction and innovative planting.

Beautiful Borders

Quality Gardens:

Continuing from the success of 2016, where just shy of half of the designers receiving a coveted Gold award, we are hoping for a bumper year of applications and fascinating designs. Beautiful Borders are a unique element of BBC Gardeners’ World Live providing an opportunity for horticultural students and budding gardeners to experience the design, planning and build of a horticultural exhibit in a show environment, without the large financial and resource commitment of a show garden. Beautiful Borders are an enjoyable feature with visitors, allowing them to be able to be inspired for their own garden or small space.

Theme:
The theme invites creative interpretations of the past 50 years of Gardeners’ World. Over the years the programme has reflected the development of gardening and the attitude towards it, becoming one of the longest running gardening programmes on air and we’re delighted to be sharing this celebration with you.

Your Beautiful Border could pay homage to your favourite presenter: be it Percy Thrower, Geoff Hamilton, Bob Flowerdew, or one of the many other friendly faces. Or how about recreating elements of gardens that have featured in the programme like The Magnolias, Clack’s Farm, Barnsdale, Barleywood or Greenacre. Similarly, it could be your favourite episode, garden visited or plant featured - the possibilities are endless.

As well as the theme, the border should show eye catching design, innovative planting skills and effective plant selection.

Awards:
We will continue to present Platinum, Gold, Silver-Merit, Silver and Bronze awards, along with awards for Best Border and Best Interpretation of Theme.
