We welcome disabled visitors to The NEC for BBC Gardeners' World Live.

Companions are admitted for FREE

If you need to bring a companion, assistant or guider with you to the show to maximise your enjoyment, then that carer will be admitted free of charge. Please make this clear to the Box Office when you book your tickets - they will be happy to help!

Assistance Dogs

Guide, assistance and hearing dogs are admitted into the show. 

Gardeners’ World Theatre seats for visitors with disabilities 

Visitors with special requirements should book theatre seats by calling the Box Office to ensure the best possible seating arrangements. Spaces are available for wheelchair users and carers in all BBC Gardeners’ World Live Theatre sessions, available exclusively by calling 0844 388 0341. 

Sign Language Interpreted Sessions

There will be signed sessions throughout the show in our main theatres and stages. Please refer to the individual theatre timetables, where they will be clearly marked with ‘S’ for your information once available.

A limited number of seats are held for visitors who are hard of hearing, near the sign language interpreter in each BBC Gardeners' World Live Theatre. Please call the Box Office if you would like to be seated in this position. These seats are not available to select online.

Booking Your Tickets

All disabled visitors attending BBC Gardeners’ World Live are advised to inform the Box Office operators at the time of booking tickets if they require a wheelchair space, or have any special requirements. They will also help you find the most convenient seating for visually impaired visitors. The Box Office will also have details of the days and times of demonstrations with sign language interpreters.

To book tickets to the Show, please call 0800 640 5001. Lines are open from 9am-7pm (Monday to Friday) and 9am-5pm (Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays).

Please note that all ticket sales are allocated on a first come first served basis.

Wheelchair hire

The NEC have manual wheelchairs and scooters available for hire which are bookable by phone on 0121 780 4141 (Option 2 and then Option 7) or via email on

All pre-bookings will be held until 11am on the day booked for, unless otherwise advised.

For any visitors who have not pre-booked equipment and arrive on the day, any remaining stock will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. As collection location varies from show to show, please check the collection point when making a booking.

Please note: Mobility equipment hire is only available during Show open times and only accept payment by card for any equipment hired.

Access & Parking

If travelling by train disembark at Birmingham International Station. Access to The NEC is via the skywalk. All levels of The NEC are accessible to wheelchair users, via ramps or lifts. The Atrium & piazza entrances have automatic doors.

Please note car parking charges have increased from October 2018. We strongly advise to book pre-paid parking in advance of the Show available three months prior to the event (up until the night before the Show opens) to secure the best rates at £12, as on the day parking will be charged at £16. Disabled parking for any vehicles displaying a blue badge is available and situated close to the halls for easy access.

If you choose to pay on the day, tickets can be purchased from ticket machines during your visit and presented at the exit of the car park when you leave. Shuttle buses operate between the car parks and the Show.

Hard of Hearing

Induction loops are fitted to Ticket sales points, Information points, all show feature demonstration areas, Press Office and the Organisers' Office.

Certain BBC Gardeners' World Live Theatre sessions have Sign Language interpreters, look for the (S) symbol on the timetables. 

Additionally, the BBC Gardeners' World Live Theatre has dedicated seats for visitors that are hard of hearing. Please notify the Box Office if these seats would benefit you.


The NEC has Male and Female wheelchair accessible toilets.

Medical Emergencies

In the event of a medical emergency please notify a member of security or any member of the BBC Gardeners’ World Live team who will be pleased to help you. Alternatively contact the medical centre on 2222 using the internal telephone situated at the entrance to each hall.
