Rose Hut

Roses UK are delighted to welcome you to their charming ‘Rose Hut’, kindly loaned by Riverside Shepherd Huts, in the centre of the Floral Marquee, as the focal point of their informal rose talks, where they are offering hints and tips for successful rose growing, demystifying pruning and offering companion planting ideas to complement your roses.

Full timetable to follow.

Gardeners' Gold Rose

Gardeners' Gold Rose

No rose festival is complete without the launch of a new rose variety and Harkness Roses and Roses UK will be launching a brand new rose variety at BBC Gardeners’ World Live this year, called 'Gardeners’ Gold' in celebration of the Gardeners’ World 50th anniversary.

This climbing rose produces a profusion of rich golden yellow flowers with a light fruity scent. Suitable for many uses in the garden, growing on walls, posts, trellis, arches or pergolas. The mid-green foliage shows excellent disease resistance, so this rose is ideal for the organic gardener — not only are fungicides not needed, but the bees are attracted to it.

The rose is bred by Harkness Roses, Hitchin from a breeding line that is based on producing easy to grow healthy roses. During the breeding and testing period of 7 years prior to introduction 'Gardeners’ Gold' has never been treated with any fungicide, so we can be sure that this excellent climber will grow without difficulty in gardens across the country.

Mid-June — what better time to appreciate the colour and fragrance of roses and to add some new favourites to your garden. Floribundas, Hybrid Teas, Climbers and Ramblers, Patio, Groundcover, there is a rose for every situation.

You can be amongst the very first to own this stunning rose – make your way to the Harkness Roses Stand (R1) and get your hands on a little piece of gardening history!
