Share my space with nature
A garden that encourages wildlife can also be beautiful, and easy to create and maintain.
This border shows two styles of garden that can be shared with nature, one shady and the other dry, sunny and drought tolerant.
Shade is created by small trees that also provide food and habitat for birds and insects. This is underplanted with ferns and shade-loving plants, giving ground cover for invertebrates which in turn supply food for birds and small mammals. The dry area includes flowers and sub-shrubs that are sources of pollen and nectar for insects whilst their seeds are food for birds in winter.

The theme of 2024 is ‘Share my Space.’ The theme is all about harnessing the potential of small garden spaces and using them as catalysts for building a sense of community through gardening. Our gardens, no matter how big or small, are spaces we can come together, learn from one another and cultivate a shared green oasis.
