The Retreat
0 comment
The Retreat Designed by Marc Buirski The retreat is a garden for a school, where the children and staff can take a moment to catch their breath and be immersed in nature. We have taken inspiration from the local woodland, to bring an element of the peace which can be found there, into the school.Once the show is complete, this garden will be taken down and planted on the school grounds. /*! elementor - v3.19.0 - 07-02-2024 */ .elementor-widget-image{text-align:center}.elementor-widget-image a{display:inline-block}.elementor-widget-image a img[src$=".svg"]{width:48px}.elementor-widget-image img{vertical-align:middle;display:inline-block} With thanks to garden suppliers:
A Forest of Calm

A Forest of Calm Designed by Leigh Johnstone & Lily Clarke Beyond our back gardens there are incredible natural landscapes waiting for us to escape into, forests of calm that can inspire, restore and help us heal. With mental illness accounting for 23 per cent of all ill-health in England, our National Parks can play an important role in helping to improve the mental health and wellbeing of the nation.A Forest of Calm seeks to capture the beauty of the New Forest National Park. The garden features a native woodland edge, a place of enjoyment and adventure, which opens out onto the iconic heathland landscape that humans and animals share together, including the famous New Forest pony. The garden was created using the ideas and experiences of New Forest residents, many of whom have been affected by poor mental health, in the hope that it encourages more of us to get out into nature. Maggie’s Sanctuary
0 comment
Maggie's Sanctuary Designed by Sparsholt College’s Garden Design Advanced Award Group Sanctuary reflects the deliberate and permanent dialogue that exists between the centre’s interior and exterior. With the lines very much blurred, the design emulates the striking bold linear architecture through a three-sided structure that wraps round a hidden, secluded oasis. Vistas of various shapes and sizes entice the onlooker to navigate the structure with intrigue and curiosity. Its inception highlights the fundamental practice that Maggie’s plays in supporting cancer patients and their loved ones. Offering a sense of stability and calm, sanctuary defines that important escape and place of refuge in a time of crisis and uncertainty. Planting inspired by neighbouring New Forest dresses the exhibit in striking tones associated with the charity. Waves

Waves Designed by Sparsholt College’s Garden Design Advanced Award Group ‘Waves’ takes you on a plant filled journey illustrating the vital role the Maggie’s Centres Southampton plays in supporting those affected by a cancer diagnosis.Maggie Keswick Jencks had an interest in Taoist waves of energy moving through the landscape. Our Taoist chalk wave moves through three garden spaces and represents fluctuating waves of energy and emotion.Starting with planting of restrained colour and form, the wave then rests at a central water feature and a planting of green and white, a quiet regenerative escape. The path then widens again surrounded by harmonising planting that celebrates the beauty and energy of nature.
